Delhi triple murder: Self-styled maulana arrested for luring victims with ‘Dhanvarsha’ rituals, poisoning them | Delhi News

NEW DELHI: A self-styled maulana has been arrested in connection with a sensational triple murder case in which the bodies of two men and a woman were found inside a car in Outer Delhi’s Peeragarhi area. Police said the accused had previously been involved in two murder cases.The accused has been identified as Kamruddin alias “Baba”, a resident of Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, who was operating a so-called tantric centre in Loni and Firozabad. During investigation, police found that he allegedly lured unsuspecting people on the pretext of arranging “Dhanvarsha” (sudden financial gain) through tantric rituals. He would first gain the confidence of his targets, psychologically influence them, and then administer poison mixed in laddoos to kill them before robbing them of cash and valuables. Police described him as a habitual offender with a history of involvement in heinous crimes.Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Sachin Sharma said that on February 8, a PCR call was received reporting three persons lying unconscious inside a white car in Peeragarhi. A police team rushed to the spot and found all three occupants dead. The deceased were identified as Randhir (76), whose body was found in the driver’s seat, and Laxmi (40) and Shiv Naresh (42), who were found in the rear seat.During inspection of the vehicle, police recovered liquor bottles, cold drink bottles, empty glasses, mobile phones, cash, helmets, jackets, Aadhaar cards and other personal belongings and documents. Family members of the deceased ruled out suicide and expressed suspicion over the circumstances surrounding their deaths.The case was investigated on priority. Detailed technical analysis, including call data records and location tracking, revealed that all three deceased had been in contact with Kamruddin, who had promised them financial gains through rituals. Investigators found that the trio had visited Loni in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, a day before the incident. On the day of their deaths, they again travelled to Loni and remained in touch with the accused.Technical evidence further indicated that a fourth person was present in the car while the victims were returning to Delhi. Subsequent analysis established that this individual was Kamruddin. Police said he boarded the vehicle in Loni and later abandoned it at the spot where the bodies were discovered.Kamruddin was apprehended and questioned. Initially, he allegedly attempted to mislead investigators but failed to provide satisfactory answers. During sustained interrogation, he disclosed that around two months ago, Laxmi had been introduced to him through an associate named Salim. She later brought Shiv Naresh and Randhir to him. He allegedly convinced them to conduct a “pooja” for “Dhanvarsha” and asked them to arrange Rs 2 lakh in cash along with liquor and cold drinks for the ritual.According to police, Kamruddin prepared laddoos laced with poison and accompanied the trio in their car. During the journey, he allegedly persuaded them to consume liquor, soft drinks and the poisoned sweets. Once they became unconscious, he decamped with the cash and fled, abandoning the vehicle.Police said technical and circumstantial evidence corroborated his presence in the car at the relevant time.Investigators also revealed that Kamruddin had previously been involved in two murder cases — one registered in 2014 in Raja Khera, Dholpur, Rajasthan, and another in Makhkhanpur, Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh. Further investigation is underway.
