The creators of comedy series ‘The Studio’ said that the second season of the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning series would acknowledge the demise of one of its stars, Catherine O’Hara.O’Hara, who won Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series at the Actor Awards for her portrayal of producer Patty Leigh in the show, was initially part of Season 2’s plans before her passing away in January 2026.

In a new interview with The Times of London, Rogen and co-creator Evan Goldberg said that they were forced to suddenly change the entire season following O’Hara’s demise. “It has been an unbelievable challenge,” Goldberg said. He says, “She (Catherine O’Hara) was the anchor, and now the anchor is gone.” Rogen added, “If anything, we’re acknowledging the idea that we are a little anchorless. But, honestly, that is a part of life and what we all experience. And so while we try not to dwell too much on heavy themes in this show, they will be there in this second season. We are not ignoring it.”

Season 2 of ‘The Studio’ began shooting in January. According to a Variety report, O’Hara did not film any scenes before her demise. O’Hara portrayed movie executive Patty Leigh in Rogen and Goldberg’s TV comedy series. She appeared in all 10 episodes of ‘The Studio‘s hit first season, and notably earned herself a 2025 Emmy nomination and 2026 Golden Globe nod for best supporting actress in a comedy series.The ‘Beetlejuice’ actress passed away on January 30 at her home in Los Angeles after a brief illness. She was 71. Following O’Hara’s demise, ‘The Studio’ cast, crew, and producers paid tribute to their late star.
