The FIFA World Cup 2026 kicked off in Los Angeles, USA with a spectacular star-studded opening ceremony, as global music icons Katy Perry, LISA, Anitta, Future and Tyla came together to deliver electrifying performances ahead of the Group D clash between the United States and Paraguay.

Katy Perry headlines opening ceremony with ‘Wonder’

Headlining the U.S. opening ceremony, Katy Perry brought both glamour and emotion to the sporting event with a performance of her song ‘Wonder’. Adding a touching element to the performance was 10-year-old Norwegian singer Tius Luka, who joined Perry on the field to sing the opening and closing lines of the track.Perry also drew attention for her striking stage attire. The singer wore a futuristic silver gown featuring a dramatic structured hoop design that extended sharply from the waist.

LISA and Anitta perform ‘Goals’

The pre-match spectacle featured an impressive lineup of international artists. Among the highlights was a high-energy track between LISA and Anitta, who joined forces to perform the track ‘Goals’. Dressed in coordinated white outfits, the two performers delivered an energetic routine that had fans on their feet as they celebrated the start of the World Cup festivities in the United States.

Future and Tyla perform ‘Game Time’

Grammy-winning South African star Tyla also took to the stage, teaming up with American rapper Future for a dynamic performance of the song ‘Game Time’ at SoFi Stadium.The Los Angeles ceremony marked the third major opening celebration of the FIFA World Cup 2026, following ceremonies in Mexico and Canada as the tournament unfolds across the three host nations.Canada’s opening ceremony also featured a lineup of performers, including Canadian music legends Michael Bublé and Alanis Morissette. They were joined by fellow Canadian artists Alessia Cara and Jessie Reyez, Palestinian singer-songwriter Elyanna, and Toronto-born actress and Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi.
