Fire breaks out at popular LGBT+ nightclub in Milton Keynes; 51-year-old man held on arson charge

A packed LGBT+ nightclub in Fenny Stratford, near Milton Keynes, was engulfed in flames in the early hours of Sunday, causing panic among hundreds of revellers. However, no injuries were reported due to a swift evacuation by staff and security.According to BBC, the fire broke out at Pink Punters around 2am, prompting an immediate emergency response. Eyewitnesses described chaotic scenes as alarms blared and staff requested people to exit without delay.

51-year-old arrested, motive unclear

Thames Valley Police confirmed that a 51-year-old man from Milton Keynes has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.He remains in custody. Authorities have urged the public not to speculate about the motive as investigations continue.

“Out of nowhere, we were told to run”

Molly Firman, who was at the venue with friends, said the situation escalated within minutes. “It was just a normal night — drinks, music, no problems — and then suddenly staff were screaming ‘you need to get out now’,” she recalled.She described the blaze as intense and surreal, adding that flames spread rapidly and drew large crowds of onlookers outside.

Massive firefighting operation

Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service deployed 12 fire engines to tackle the blaze at its peak. Crews arrived shortly after 2:09am and are expected to remain at the site for an extended period to extinguish hotspots.Visuals circulating on social media indicate significant damage to the nightclub, though officials say a full structural assessment is still pending.Authorities also imposed road closures in the area and advised nearby residents to keep windows and doors shut due to heavy smoke.

Second fire incident in area

The nightclub fire comes just hours after another blaze damaged St Martin’s Church in Fenny Stratford. While part of the church was affected, the main structure was preserved.Police and fire officials continue to work jointly to determine the cause of the nightclub fire. More details are expected as the investigation progresses.
