Indie rock band Parikrama will open for rock legends Scorpions in Delhi on April 24 and in Mumbai on April 30. Calling them one of their biggest influences, Subir Malik, founder and manager of Parikrama, says, “They are one of our biggest influences. Ask anyone who grew up in the 70s, 80s, and 90s – most of them listened to their songs. So when we open for legends like Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, or Scorpions, it feels like a full circle for us. If these legends hadn’t been there, Parikrama wouldn’t have existed. We grew up listening to Scorpions and tried playing all their songs, even when we didn’t know how to play our guitars. From listening to those old cassettes to now opening for them, it is a really big honour.”He adds that the band is working on a special set for the shows. “We will be debuting a couple of our brand-new originals that have not yet been recorded,” shares Subir.
Scorpions are a German heavy metal band formed in 1965 by Rudolf Schenke
“Scorpions have a legacy and have been around for over 60 years, and Parikrama completes 35 years this year. There are similarities in the kind of music, the era, and the undying love for rock ’n’ roll. These legends have been around for almost twice as long as our time as a band and are still going strong – great inspiration for us as well. For Parikrama, this is just the beginning,” says Subir.
