SVU raids engineer’s premises in disproportionate assets case; Rs 7 lakh cash recovered

Patna: Sleuths of the Special Vigilance Unit (SVU) on Saturday raided the residential and official premises of Rajeev Kumar, executive engineer (mechanical), procurement and quality control, urban development and housing department, Patna, in connection with a disproportionate assets case.The raids followed a case registered against Rajeev by the SVU. He has been accused of acquiring assets disproportionate to his known sources of income to the tune of Rs 1 crore during his service period as a public servant in the Bihar govt.Acting on a search warrant issued by the special judge, vigilance, Patna, an eight-member SVU team led by DSP Chandra Bhushan Srivastava conducted simultaneous raids from around 7.30am at three locations. The first raid was carried out at Flat No. B-202 in the West Block of Sumit Chandram Griham Apartment on Ramnagari Road, where Rajeev lives with his family. During the search, the team recovered Rs 7 lakh in cash from the premises.The second location was Flat No. 807 in Landmark Gold on Khagaul Road (Danapur-Saguna Road), Danapur, which also belongs to Rajeev but is currently rented to an army officer and was found locked. The team is collecting details from the tenant and the premises.The third site was his govt office in the chamber of the superintending engineer, procurement and quality control, on the sixth floor of Pant Bhawan. Documents related to two immovable properties were seized during the search of Rajeev’s flat, and their valuation is underway. Officials said further investigation is in progress and more details may emerge.
