Pune: Two children drowned in separate incidents in Pune district on Tuesday. The victims, a two-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy, died in separate accidents in Daund and Junnar talukas. Cases of accidental death have been registered at the Yavat and Otur police stations.According to the Yavat police, Arohi Ashok Shinde (2), a resident of Khutbav in Daund taluka, was playing near her house on Tuesday afternoon when she fell into a rainwater-filled trench and drowned. “The trench had been dug for some work and had filled with rainwater,” an officer said.When the girl went missing, her parents began searching for her. Her body was later found in the trench. “Our investigations are on,” the officer added.In the second incident, Sameer Doke (12), of Ambegavan in Junnar taluka, drowned while swimming in a lake in the forest area at Ahinewadi with a few friends. After he went under, his friends alerted his mother and other villagers. His body was recovered about an hour later, police said. An accidental death case has been registered.
